| Biography |
Border City Blues Band originally started in December, 1997. Currently the band consists of 6 pieces and was nominated best Blues Band in Buffalo several times.
In about 2002, the band shot a video for Channel 7 News promoting Buffalo and the Downtown events with an original song written by John Lume call the "Border City Shuffle". The band is currently working on an original CD and has played at over 200 venues in the last several years, including large clubs, festivals, private venues, and municipalities.
John Lume: Founder and manager of the band, lead guitar and lead vocals. Over 35 years guitar experience and singing has led to his being nominated best "Blues Vocalist and Guitarist" several times.
Bob Syrette: Tenor Sax and backup vocals. 40 years experience and has played with the area's top players in Rock and Blues. Voted Best Blues Sax Player 4 times in addition to being nominated for several others.
Paul Vanacore: Baritone Sax and backup vocals. Over 35 years experience with the low baritone sax, the harmony is a perfect blend with Bob's tenor sax. Originally from California, Paul comes from a very musical family. His brother was musical director for Ray Charles.
Moose Erbacher: Bass and backup vocals with over 30 years in the music business. His talents not only lie in his solid bass lines and backup vocals, but he is also accomplished on several instruments. Moose is also an award winning wind ensemble and jazz band director as well as the music teacher for the 25 years at Newfane High School.
Steve McCantis: Newest member of the group. Steve has played all over the US and Europe. He has experience in R&B, Rock and Blues. He has toured with the R&B group Peaches & Herb. Steve adds that extra "juice behind us" according to John.
Dustin Knapp: Keyboards and backup vocals. Even though he is youngest member of the group, he still has over 20 years of experience in music. He has won numerous awards for his talent. His experience includes studio work and playing in bands that have opened for several national artists.
